Best Personal Injury Lawyer in Los Angeles — 2025
This case was recognised by Insider Weekly in naming Court House Lawyers the Best Personal Injury Lawyer in Los Angeles for 2025.
“Court House Lawyers secured a $50,000 settlement for a client who initially received an offer of only $500 from the insurance company — a recovery 100 times greater than the original proposal”
— Insider Weekly, 2025
What Happened
She Had Done Everything Right.
She parked in her usual spot in front of the school — the same place she always waited. Her two grandchildren were the only children on the bus that afternoon. She was sitting in the driver’s seat, leaning against the door, watching for them.
The school bus came through. There was not enough space. The bus caught the driver’s side of her car — right where she was sitting — and the impact rocked the vehicle and her body. Even what looks like minor side contact from a bus transfers significant force.
When the bus driver stepped out, his first words were not to ask if she was all right.
The Driver's Exact Words
“Don’t tell the school. Don’t call the police. Don’t say anything.”
– Bus Driver, at the scene
She did not listen. She called the police. She photographed the damage. She told the school. She had a police report, photographs, and witnesses. She assumed the insurance company would do what was right. They did not.
The Insurance Company's Response
The $500 Offer
The insurance company sent out a claims adjuster to inspect the vehicle. They took their own photographs, and told her the damage was minimal. Including her injuries, her pain and suffering, and all associated costs. They offered her $500, and said they were doing her a favor.
” She had a police report. She had photographs. She had witnesses. Clear damage to a car struck by a school bus. And they offered $500.”
Counter Offer Counter-Move:
When she pushed back on her own, the offer went to $600. Take it or leave it.
That is when she started looking for an attorney.
Our Approach
How We Built the Case
Step 01
Reviewed Everything
We reviewed the police report, photographs, damage record, and insurer's correspondence. Liability was clear. What was missing was the full medical picture.
Step 02
Documented the Injury
Our client had significant right shoulder pain. We directed her to appropriate medical evaluation. The MRI confirmed a tear requiring treatment. The insurer is not a doctor — a doctor's finding is what matters in a courtroom and in a negotiation.
Step 03
Watched the Bus Footage
The insurer, confident they had nothing to hide, allowed us to view the bus's own camera footage. It confirmed the impact and closed the liability question entirely.
Step 04
Filed and Gave a Final Demand
We filed the case. We told the insurer we were done negotiating in small increments. We gave them one final demand: $50,000. We made clear that if they did not settle, we would take it to trial, fully prepared. They paid.

What This Means for You
If an Insurance Company Has Lowballed You
This case is not unusual. Insurance companies routinely make initial offers that are far from the actual value of a claim. They count on claimants not knowing what their case is worth, not having medical documentation, and not being willing to file a lawsuit.
When you have an attorney who is willing to file, fully prepared to litigate, and not going to settle for a number that does not reflect your actual injuries — the dynamic changes.
If you have been injured and the insurance company’s offer does not feel right, it probably isn’t. Tell us what happened and we’ll give you a straight answer.
